A series of heavy rainstorms have wreaked havoc in the town of Bimbila, leaving several residents homeless and causing extensive damage to properties. The relentless downpour, accompanied by strong winds, resulted in widespread destruction of homes, and displacement of families.
Reports from the area indicated that over 400 residents in Bimbila were rendered homeless. many houses were inundated with water forcing inhabitants to flee to higher ground for safety. The heavy rainstorm has also led to the destruction of crops, livestock, and essential infrastructure, exacerbating the plight of the affected residents.
The affected residents include;
- Dangbe fong
- Limam fong
- Baatinli
- Siburi fong
- Jilo/mogbeguni
- Chamba community
Over Thousands of Ghana, cedis properties were destroyed belonging to the affected people in the municipality.
Local authorities and emergency responders were on the ground, providing assistance to those affected by the disaster. Efforts are being made to evacuate individuals into to the near by houses for temporal stayed.
The community is rallying together to support one another during this challenging time, with volunteers assisting in rescue operations and humanitarian efforts. The extent of the damage caused by the rainstorms is still being assessed, but it is clear that the town of Bimbilla faces a long road to recovery in the aftermath of this natural disaster.
The affected people are appealing to any organization to come to them for their assistance to alleviate these hardships.
